Smart Card
What is a Smart Card?
A Smart Card is a technologically advanced card that contains an integrated circuit (IC) chip capable of processing data. Unlike traditional magnetic stripe cards, smart cards offer enhanced security, encryption, and storage capacity, making them ideal for corporate travel, financial transactions, and secure access control.
In business travel, smart cards are widely used for corporate payment solutions, contactless public transportation, and employee identification. Companies may issue smart cards linked to corporate travel accounts, allowing employees to make secure and trackable transactions while traveling for work. Additionally, many airlines and hotel chains use smart card technology for loyalty programs, digital boarding passes, and keyless hotel room access.
Smart cards can be contact-based (requiring insertion into a reader) or contactless (using near-field communication or RFID for tap-and-go transactions). Their ability to store encrypted data makes them a preferred choice for fraud prevention and seamless business travel payments.
